  • Water - 150 ml, cold
  • Olive oil - 500 ml, for frying
  • Lemon - 1, cut into wedges
  • Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Gradually whisk in the cold water until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until hot (about 180°C or 350°F).
  4. Dip the squid rings into the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Carefully place the battered squid rings in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, then remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
