Ingredients

  • Ground beef (kosher) - 300 grams
  • Fresh basil - 10 grams
  • Fresh oregano - 5 grams
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Arugula - 50 grams
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Balsamic reduction - 2 tablespoons
  • Burger buns (kosher) - 2
  • Parmesan cheese (optional, kosher) - 30 grams, shaved

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns and toast them in a separate skillet or toaster until golden.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, place them on the bottom half of the toasted buns. Top each patty with fresh arugula, a slice of tomato, and shaved Parmesan cheese if using.
  6. Drizzle balsamic reduction over the toppings, then place the top half of the buns on each burger.
  7. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
