Ingredients

  • Halal Italian sausage - 250 grams
  • Fennel bulb - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Burger buns - 2, halved
  • Fresh arugula - 1 cup
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Mozzarella cheese - 2 slices
  • Balsamic glaze - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the halal Italian sausage, chopped fennel, minced garlic, parsley, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the sausage mixture into 2 equal-sized patties, about 2 cm thick.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C.
  4. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty to melt.
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns in a separate skillet or toaster until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a handful of fresh arugula, a slice of tomato, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze if desired. Top with the other half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Fennel Sausage Burger!
