- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
- Fresh basil - 5 leaves, torn
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated (optional)
Steps
- Wash and trim the green beans, removing the ends.
- In a medium pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well. Add the torn basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the blanched green beans to the tomato sauce, mixing well to coat them. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve warm, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
