Ingredients

  • Mackerel fillets - 200 grams
  • Baguette - 1 small (about 200 grams)
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon - 1 (juice and zest)
  • Capers - 1 tablespoon (rinsed and chopped)
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons (chopped)
  • Garlic - 1 clove (minced)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the mackerel fillets with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Grill the mackerel for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. While the mackerel is grilling, slice the baguette into 1 cm thick slices.
  5. Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil and grill them for 1-2 minutes on each side until crispy and golden.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped capers, minced garlic, and chopped parsley to create the dressing.
  7. Once the mackerel is cooked, flake it into large pieces.
  8. To assemble, place the grilled mackerel on the toasted baguette slices and drizzle with the lemon-caper dressing.
