Ingredients

  • Polenta - 100 grams
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add the salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in the polenta, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and cook the polenta for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the olive oil, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and mix well.
  5. Spread the cooked polenta into a greased baking dish, smoothing the top to about 1.5 cm thickness.
  6. Let the polenta cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 1 hour to firm up.
  7. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
  8. Once cooled, slice the polenta into fry shapes.
  9. Place the polenta fries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush lightly with olive oil, and season with additional salt and pepper if desired.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
