  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon - 1, for juice
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells and removing any beards.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, followed by the white wine. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Cover the pot with a lid and increase the heat to high. Steam the mussels for about 5-7 minutes, or until they open up.
  5. Once the mussels are cooked, remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Serve immediately in bowls with the cooking broth and crusty bread on the side.
