Steps

  1. Wash the Cavolo Nero thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or grit.
  2. Trim the tough stems from the leaves and chop the leaves into manageable pieces.
  3. Fill a pot with about 1 liter of water and bring it to a boil.
  4. Once the water is boiling, place a steamer basket over the pot and add the chopped Cavolo Nero.
  5. Cover the pot and steam the Cavolo Nero for about 5-7 minutes, or until the leaves are tender but still vibrant in color.
  6. While the kale is steaming, prepare the dressing by whisking together the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, sea salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  7. Once the Cavolo Nero is done steaming, remove it from the steamer and transfer it to a serving bowl.
