Ingredients
- Cavatelli pasta - 200 grams
- Broccoli florets - 150 grams
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Extra virgin olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Parmesan cheese (optional, kosher) - 30 grams, grated
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the cavatelli pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes or until fragrant.
- Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until they are tender but still bright green. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Once the pasta is done cooking, reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- Add the drained cavatelli to the skillet with the broccoli and toss to combine. If the mixture is too dry, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
