Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 2 mm thickness.
- Cut the pastry into triangles approximately 10 cm wide at the base.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest until smooth.
- Place a spoonful of the ricotta mixture at the base of each pastry triangle.
- Roll the pastry triangle over the filling towards the tip, forming a cone shape, and seal the edges.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the surface of each cannoncino for a golden finish.
- Place the filled cannoli on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly, then garnish with chopped pistachios before serving.
