  • Cornstarch - 20 grams
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Egg yolk - 1
  • Butter - 30 grams
  • Powdered sugar - for dusting

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3 mm thickness.
  3. Cut the pastry into strips approximately 2 cm wide and wrap them around cannoli tubes or cone molds, overlapping slightly.
  4. Place the wrapped molds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and puffed.
  5. While the pastry cools, prepare the cream: In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch; whisk until smooth.
  6. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and butter until fully incorporated.
  8. Allow the cream to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
  9. Once the pastry shells are cool, carefully remove them from the molds.
  10. Using a piping bag, fill each pastry shell with the cream mixture.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
