Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3 mm thickness.
- Cut the pastry into strips approximately 2 cm wide and wrap them around cannoli tubes or cone molds, overlapping slightly.
- Place the wrapped molds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and puffed.
- While the pastry cools, prepare the cream: In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch; whisk until smooth.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and butter until fully incorporated.
- Allow the cream to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
- Once the pastry shells are cool, carefully remove them from the molds.
- Using a piping bag, fill each pastry shell with the cream mixture.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
