- Puff pastry - 100 grams
- Ricotta cheese - 150 grams
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
- Dark chocolate (70% cocoa) - 20 grams
- Chopped nuts (almonds or pistachios) - 2 tablespoons
- Powdered sugar - for dusting (optional)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3mm thick.
- Cut the pastry into strips about 5cm wide and 10cm long.
- Wrap each strip around a cannoli form, overlapping slightly, and press to seal the edges.
- Place the wrapped forms on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the pastry is baking, prepare the filling by mixing ricotta cheese, honey, vanilla extract, and lemon zest in a bowl until smooth.
- Once the pastry is baked and cooled, carefully remove the cannoli forms.
- Fill each cannolo with the ricotta mixture using a piping bag or spoon.
- Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or double boiler, then drizzle over the filled cannoli.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts and dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve immediately.
