Ingredients

  • Freshly brewed espresso - 120 ml
  • Hot milk - 240 ml
  • Sugar - 2 teaspoons
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Almond flour - 100 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Butter (melted) - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Sugar (for biscotti) - 50 grams
  • Almonds (slivered) - 50 grams

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix almond flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Fold in the slivered almonds until evenly distributed.
  6. Shape the dough into a log about 20 cm long and 5 cm wide, then place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
  8. Once cooled, slice the log into 1 cm thick pieces and lay them flat on the baking sheet.
  9. Bake again for an additional 10 minutes or until the biscotti are crisp.
  10. While the biscotti are baking, brew the espresso and heat the milk until steaming but not boiling.
  11. Froth the milk using a frother or by shaking it in a jar until it’s light and airy.
  12. Pour the brewed espresso into a cup, add sugar to taste, then pour the frothed milk over it to create a layered effect.
  13. Serve the Caffè Latte with the freshly baked biscotti on the side.
