- Water - 500 ml
- Milk (or plant-based milk) - 200 ml
- Honey (optional) - 1 tablespoon (15g)
- Cinnamon (optional) - 1/2 teaspoon
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional) - for garnish
Steps
- In a saucepan, bring 500 ml of water to a boil.
- Once boiling, add 4 tablespoons of barley coffee (orzo) to the water.
- Reduce heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Strain the barley coffee into two cups using a fine mesh strainer.
- In the same saucepan, heat 200 ml of milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
- Froth the milk if desired, then pour it into the cups of barley coffee.
- Sweeten with honey and sprinkle cinnamon on top if using.
- Garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired, and serve immediately.
