- Ground chicken - 400 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Canned crushed tomatoes - 200 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh basil - 5 leaves, chopped
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Burger buns - 2
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, sliced
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the ground chicken with minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Form into two patties.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side until they are cooked through and golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the skillet, cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes until soft.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and chopped basil, simmering for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toast the burger buns lightly on the skillet or a grill.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a chicken patty on each bun, topping with the pepper-tomato sauce and a slice of mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the burgers with the top bun and serve immediately.
