Ingredients
- Savoy cabbage - 400 grams
- Ground beef (80% lean) - 250 grams
- Crushed tomatoes - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 small (about 70 grams), diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Remove the core from the cabbage and carefully peel off 8 whole leaves.
- Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until softened. Remove and drain them on a paper towel.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-6 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and let simmer for another 5 minutes.
- In a baking dish, layer some of the ground beef mixture at the bottom. Place 2-3 cabbage leaves on top, then add more beef mixture, followed by another layer of cabbage leaves. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of beef on top.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
