Ingredients

  • Savoy cabbage - 6 large leaves
  • Ground beef - 200 grams
  • Ricotta cheese - 150 grams
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Marinara sauce - 200 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch the cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until softened, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until creamy.
  6. In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom. Place 2 cabbage leaves over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture on top, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  7. Repeat the layering process with the remaining cabbage leaves, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and finish with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  9. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
