Ingredients
- Savoy cabbage - 6 large leaves
- Ground beef - 200 grams
- Ricotta cheese - 150 grams
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
- Marinara sauce - 200 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch the cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until softened, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until creamy.
- In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom. Place 2 cabbage leaves over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture on top, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining cabbage leaves, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and finish with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
