Ingredients
- Ground beef - 400 grams (80% lean)
- Provolone cheese - 100 grams, sliced
- Fresh basil - 10 grams, chopped
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Burger buns - 2, preferably whole grain
- Ripe tomato - 1, sliced
- Lettuce leaves - 4, for topping
- Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped basil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 2 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- In the last minute of cooking, place slices of provolone cheese on top of each patty and cover the skillet with a lid to melt the cheese.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns lightly on a separate pan or in a toaster.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun, followed by slices of tomato and lettuce. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar if desired.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
