Ingredients

  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Yellow bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh basil leaves - a handful, chopped
  • Kosher burger buns - 2

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, then form into two patties.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking.
  3. Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and add the sliced onions and bell peppers.
  5. Sauté the vegetables for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are soft and caramelized.
  6. Stir in the balsamic vinegar and chopped basil, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  7. Toast the burger buns lightly in the skillet or on a grill.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun and topping it generously with the peperonata mixture.
