- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Burger buns (kosher) - 2
- Fresh basil leaves - a handful
- Parmesan cheese (grated, kosher) - 50 grams
Steps
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes until they are soft and caramelized.
- Add the balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt to the onions, stir well, and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form the mixture into 2 equal patties, about 2 cm thick.
- Heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place grated Parmesan cheese on top of each patty and cover to melt.
- Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, topping with caramelized onions and fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately.
