Ingredients

  • Ground beef (kosher) - 400 grams
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese - 100 grams
  • Crushed tomatoes - 200 grams
  • Fresh basil leaves - 10 grams
  • Garlic - 1 clove
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Burger buns (kosher) - 2
  • Romaine lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Cherry tomatoes - 4, halved

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper, then form into two equally-sized patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
  3. While the patties are cooking, finely chop the garlic and sauté it in the same skillet until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet with the garlic, season with salt, and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the fresh basil leaves.
  5. In the last minute of cooking, place the mozzarella slices on top of the patties and cover to melt.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly in the skillet or an oven for a few minutes.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the patty with melted mozzarella, a generous spoonful of the tomato sauce, and halved cherry tomatoes.
  8. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
