- Fresh mozzarella cheese - 100 grams
- Crushed tomatoes - 200 grams
- Fresh basil leaves - 10 grams
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Burger buns (kosher) - 2
- Romaine lettuce - 2 leaves
- Cherry tomatoes - 4, halved
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper, then form into two equally-sized patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, finely chop the garlic and sauté it in the same skillet until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet with the garlic, season with salt, and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the fresh basil leaves.
- In the last minute of cooking, place the mozzarella slices on top of the patties and cover to melt.
- Toast the burger buns lightly in the skillet or an oven for a few minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the patty with melted mozzarella, a generous spoonful of the tomato sauce, and halved cherry tomatoes.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
