Ingredients

  • Halal ground beef - 400 grams
  • Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 200 grams
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh basil leaves - 5 leaves
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, sliced
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Fresh arugula - 1 cup

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 2 equal-sized patties, about 2 cm thick.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. In the same skillet, add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and fresh basil. Simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, place the mozzarella slices on top of each patty, allowing them to melt.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly in the skillet or on a grill.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the bottom half of the buns, spooning the pizzaiola sauce over the top, and adding a handful of fresh arugula.
  8. Cover with the top half of the buns and serve immediately.
