Ingredients

  • Ground beef (80% lean) - 300 grams
  • Red wine (Kosher) - 60 ml
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic, minced - 1 clove
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion, thinly sliced - 1 medium
  • Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Burger buns (Kosher) - 2
  • Sliced provolone cheese - 2 slices
  • Arugula - 1 cup

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, red wine, chopped parsley, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined, then form into two equal patties.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are caramelized and golden brown.
  3. Add the balsamic vinegar to the skillet with the onions and cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. In the same skillet, increase the heat to medium-high and cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly in a separate pan or under a broiler until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing arugula on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the patty with melted cheese and a generous topping of caramelized onions. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
