Ingredients

  • Ground beef (kosher) - 400 grams
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Red wine (optional) - 50 ml
  • Grated Parmesan cheese - 30 grams
  • Crusty bread or rolls - 2 pieces

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 2 cm thick. Set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and red wine (if using). Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Cover and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Serve the burgers topped with grated Parmesan cheese and with crusty bread or rolls on the side to soak up the sauce.
