Ingredients
- firm tofu - 200 grams
- bread crumbs - 50 grams
- fresh basil - 10 grams
- garlic - 1 clove
- nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
- olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- red chili flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- whole grain burger buns - 2
- tomato - 1, sliced
- lettuce leaves - 4
- avocado - 1/2, sliced
Steps
- Press the firm tofu to remove excess water, then crumble it into a bowl.
- Finely chop the fresh basil and garlic, then add them to the crumbled tofu.
- Mix in the bread crumbs, nutritional yeast, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into two patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil.
- Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the whole grain burger buns until lightly browned.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a tofu patty on each bun, then topping with sliced tomato, lettuce leaves, and avocado.
