Ingredients

  • Swordfish fillet - 250 grams
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
  • Capers - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
  • Burger buns - 2, whole wheat or regular
  • Mixed salad greens - 50 grams
  • Tomato - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. Finely chop the swordfish fillet and place it in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon zest, chopped capers, egg, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 1.5 inches thick.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While the patties are cooking, prepare the lemon and caper mayo by mixing 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of chopped capers in a small bowl.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly on a separate skillet or in a toaster.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading the lemon and caper mayo on the bottom half of each bun, adding a fish patty, topped with salad greens and tomato slices. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with a side of fresh vegetables or a light salad.
