Ingredients

  • Cooked lentils - 200 grams
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Grated carrot - 50 grams
  • Chopped onion - 30 grams
  • Minced garlic - 1 clove
  • Chopped fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2
  • Sliced tomato - 1
  • Lettuce leaves - 2

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mash the cooked lentils with a fork until they are mostly smooth but still have some texture.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs, grated carrot, chopped onion, minced garlic, fresh parsley, ground cumin, black pepper, and salt to the mashed lentils. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  3. Form the mixture into two burger patties, ensuring they hold together.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the burger patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the burgers are cooking, toast the whole grain burger buns in a separate pan or toaster until lightly golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a lentil patty on the bottom half of each bun, topping with sliced tomato and lettuce leaves, and then closing with the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Burger di Lenticchie!
