Ingredients

  • Horse meat (ground) - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh oregano - 1 teaspoon, chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Fresh arugula - 1 cup
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground horse meat, minced garlic, chopped parsley, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form them into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C.
  4. While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun. Top with fresh arugula, tomato slices, and red onion.
  6. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the toppings and place the top half of the bun on the burger. Serve immediately.
