Ingredients

  • Broccoli - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the broccoli for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  3. Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer it to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let it cool for a couple of minutes, then drain again.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic oil. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer the broccoli to a serving dish and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
