Steps
- Rinse the Swiss chard thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt and sand, then shake off excess water and chop the leaves and stems coarsely.
- Peel and finely slice the garlic cloves.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat, then add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Add the chopped Swiss chard stems to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Next, add the Swiss chard leaves to the skillet, along with salt and black pepper, and stir well to combine, cooking for another 5-7 minutes until the leaves are wilted and tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice for added brightness. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
