  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Parmesan cheese - 20 grams (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the Swiss chard thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt and sand, then shake off excess water and chop the leaves and stems coarsely.
  2. Peel and finely slice the garlic cloves.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat, then add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Add the chopped Swiss chard stems to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  5. Next, add the Swiss chard leaves to the skillet, along with salt and black pepper, and stir well to combine, cooking for another 5-7 minutes until the leaves are wilted and tender.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice for added brightness. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
