- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- garlic powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- basil leaves - 40 grams (for pesto)
- pine nuts - 30 grams
- Parmesan cheese, grated - 30 grams
- extra virgin olive oil - 60 ml
- lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- burger buns - 2
- fresh mozzarella - 100 grams (sliced)
- sun-dried tomatoes - 50 grams (chopped)
- arugula or mixed greens - a handful
Steps
- In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth to create the basil pesto.
- In a bowl, mix the ground halal beef with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into two patties.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, cut the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading a generous amount of basil pesto on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked beef patty on top, followed by slices of fresh mozzarella, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, and a handful of arugula.
