Ingredients

  • Ground halal beef - 300 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Balsamic vinegar - 100 ml
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Burger buns - 2 pieces
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese - 100 grams
  • Arugula - 30 grams
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves - a handful

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground halal beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently and form into 2 equal patties.
  2. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness.
  3. While the patties are cooking, combine balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer until reduced by half and slightly thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, place a slice of fresh mozzarella on each patty and cover the pan to melt the cheese for about 1 minute.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on the bottom half of the toasted buns. Top with arugula, sliced tomato, and fresh basil leaves.
  7. Drizzle the balsamic reduction over the top, then place the top half of the bun on each burger. Serve immediately.
