Ingredients

  • Venison sirloin - 400 grams
  • Red onion - 1 medium
  • Bell pepper (any color) - 1 medium
  • Garlic - 4 cloves
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Skewers - 4 (if using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes)

Steps

  1. Cut the venison sirloin into 2.5 cm cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Finely chop the red onion and bell pepper, then add them to the bowl with the venison.
  3. Mince the garlic and ginger, and add them to the bowl along with cumin, coriander, turmeric, red chili powder, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Mix everything well to ensure the venison and vegetables are coated with the marinade. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (or up to overnight for more flavor).
  5. Preheat your grill or barbecue to medium-high heat.
  6. Thread the marinated venison and vegetables onto the skewers, alternating between meat and veggies.
  7. Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the venison is cooked to your desired doneness.
  8. Remove from the grill, let rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
