Ingredients
- Green gram (moong dal) - 100 grams
- Water - 200 ml
- Fresh spinach - 50 grams
- Carrot (grated) - 1 medium
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Green chili (finely chopped) - 1
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Oil (for cooking) - as needed
- Coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Soak the green gram in water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked green gram and blend it with 200 ml of water until smooth to form a batter.
- Add the chopped spinach, grated carrot, chopped onion, green chili, cumin seeds, salt, and chopped coriander leaves to the batter. Mix well.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or tava over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
- Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a circle, making it as thick or thin as desired.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes on the other side.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adding oil as needed.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
