Ingredients

  • Green gram (moong dal) - 100 grams
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Fresh spinach - 50 grams
  • Carrot (grated) - 1 medium
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Green chili (finely chopped) - 1
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil (for cooking) - as needed
  • Coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Soak the green gram in water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked green gram and blend it with 200 ml of water until smooth to form a batter.
  3. Add the chopped spinach, grated carrot, chopped onion, green chili, cumin seeds, salt, and chopped coriander leaves to the batter. Mix well.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or tava over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a circle, making it as thick or thin as desired.
  6. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes on the other side.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adding oil as needed.
  8. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
