Ingredients

  • Water - 1.5 liters
  • Carrot - 1 medium, chopped
  • Celery - 1 stalk, chopped
  • Onion - 1 small, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, sliced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Green beans - 100 grams, chopped
  • Peas - 100 grams, fresh or frozen
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  3. Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger; sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the chopped carrot, celery, and tomato, cooking for 5 minutes until softened.
  5. Add green beans, peas, coriander powder, turmeric powder, black pepper, bay leaf, and salt.
  6. Pour in the water and bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
  8. Strain the broth into another pot or bowl, discarding the solids.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
