- Rice flour - 200 grams
- Grated coconut - 100 grams
- Water - 150 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Banana (sliced) - 1 medium (optional, for serving)
- Jaggery (grated) - 2 tablespoons (optional, for serving)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, salt, and cardamom powder.
- Gradually add water to the flour mixture, stirring until it reaches a crumbly texture but is slightly moist.
- In a puttu maker or steaming vessel, layer the flour mixture with grated coconut, starting and ending with coconut.
- Fill the bottom compartment of the puttu maker with water and place the prepared mixture in the upper compartment.
- Cover and steam for about 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
- Once done, carefully remove the puttu and serve hot with sliced banana and grated jaggery if desired.
