Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 150 grams
  • Semolina (rava) - 30 grams
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Warm water - 75 ml (adjust as needed)
  • Oil for frying - 500 ml (approx.)
  • Chopped fresh coriander - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, semolina, cumin seeds, salt, and black pepper powder.
  2. Gradually add warm water while kneading the mixture to form a smooth and soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  3. After resting, divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle, about 10 cm in diameter.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully drop one puri at a time into the oil.
  6. Fry the puris until they puff up and turn golden brown, about 30 seconds to 1 minute per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with chopped coriander, alongside your choice of vegan curry or chutney.
