Ingredients

  • Green gram (mung beans) - 150 grams
  • Rice - 50 grams
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
  • Green chili - 1, chopped
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 500 ml (or as needed)
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons (for cooking)

Steps

  1. Rinse the green gram and rice together in water, then soak them in enough water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked mixture and transfer it to a blender. Add grated ginger, chopped green chili, cumin seeds, and salt.
  3. Blend the mixture to a smooth batter, adding water as needed to achieve a pourable consistency.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat. Grease it lightly with oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the center of the pan and spread it out in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
  6. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown.
  7. Flip the dosa and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the other side is cooked through.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, greasing the pan as necessary.
  9. Serve hot with ginger chutney or any preferred side dish.
