Ingredients
- Tofu - 200 grams
- Bell peppers (mixed colors) - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 medium (150 grams)
- Tomato - 1 medium (100 grams)
- Ginger - 1 inch piece
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Green chili - 1 (adjust to taste)
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Oil (cooking) - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into cubes.
- Marinate the tofu cubes with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and a pinch of salt for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat, add the marinated tofu, and sauté until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil and heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
- Add finely chopped onion, ginger, garlic, and green chili. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Add chopped bell peppers and tomato. Cook until the bell peppers are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and let it cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the sautéed tofu back to the pan and gently mix everything together. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
- Remove from heat, drizzle with lemon juice, and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
