- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Coconut yogurt - 100 grams
- Garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger paste - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Oil - 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
- Mint leaves - 1/4 cup (for chutney)
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup (for chutney)
- Green chili - 1, chopped (for chutney)
- Salt - to taste (for chutney)
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon (for chutney)
Steps
- Press the firm tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, mix lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, and salt to create a marinade.
- Add the coconut yogurt, garlic paste, ginger paste, and chopped coriander leaves to the marinade and mix well.
- Gently toss the tofu cubes in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for better flavor).
- While the tofu marinates, prepare the mint chutney by blending mint leaves, cilantro, green chili, salt, and lemon juice until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat and lightly oil it.
- Skewer the marinated tofu cubes onto skewers and grill for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until they are golden and slightly charred.
- Serve the Vegan Fish Tikka hot with mint chutney and warm naan or rice.
