- chickpea flour - 100 grams
- water - 150 ml
- nori seaweed sheets - 2 sheets, finely chopped
- turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - 1 teaspoon
- fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
- baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- oil for frying - as needed
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, whisking until a smooth batter forms.
- Fold in the chopped nori seaweed, fresh cilantro, finely chopped onion, and green chili (if using).
- Add baking powder to the batter and mix gently.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the oil carefully, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry the pakoras until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
- Remove the pakoras from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
