  • Chickpea flour - 50 grams
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Oil - for frying (approximately 200 ml)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, chickpea flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Add lemon juice and mix well to form a thick batter. If needed, add water to achieve a pancake-like consistency.
  4. Dip each tofu slice into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the battered tofu slices in the oil.
  6. Fry the tofu slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  8. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with tangy tamarind chutney.
