Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Rice flour - 100 grams
- Chickpea flour - 50 grams
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Oil - for frying (approximately 200 ml)
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, chickpea flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper.
- Add lemon juice and mix well to form a thick batter. If needed, add water to achieve a pancake-like consistency.
- Dip each tofu slice into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the battered tofu slices in the oil.
- Fry the tofu slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried tofu and place it on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with tangy tamarind chutney.
