Ingredients

  • Raw cashews - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
  • Black salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Water - 50 ml

Steps

  1. Soak the raw cashews in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the soaked cashews, then blend them with coconut milk, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, black salt, cumin powder, and water until smooth and creamy.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it sit at room temperature for 6-8 hours to ferment slightly, or refrigerate if not using immediately.
  4. In a small pan, heat a teaspoon of oil and add mustard seeds, allowing them to pop. Once they pop, pour this tempering over the vegan dahi.
  5. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves before serving.
