Ingredients

  • Canned chickpeas - 240 grams (1 cup)
  • Red onion - 50 grams (1/4 cup, finely chopped)
  • Tomato - 100 grams (1 medium, diced)
  • Cucumber - 100 grams (1 small, diced)
  • Fresh coriander leaves - 15 grams (1/4 cup, chopped)
  • Tamarind chutney - 30 grams (2 tablespoons)
  • Chaat masala - 5 grams (1 teaspoon)
  • Lemon juice - 15 ml (1 tablespoon)
  • Green chili - 1 small (finely chopped, optional)
  • Pomegranate seeds - 50 grams (1/4 cup, for garnish)
  • Sev (crispy chickpea noodles) - 30 grams (for garnish)
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse and drain the canned chickpeas, then place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the finely chopped red onion, diced tomato, diced cucumber, and chopped coriander leaves to the chickpeas.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the tamarind chutney, chaat masala, lemon juice, and chopped green chili (if using). Stir well to combine.
  4. Pour the chutney mixture over the chickpea and vegetable mixture, and toss gently until everything is well coated.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt as needed.
  6. Serve the chaat in bowls, garnished with pomegranate seeds and sev on top.
