Ingredients

  • Green gram (moong dal) - 150 grams
  • Rice - 50 grams
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Green chilies - 2
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as needed
  • Oil - for cooking

Steps

  1. Soak the green gram and rice together in water for at least 4-6 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked ingredients and transfer them to a blender.
  3. Add ginger, green chilies, cumin seeds, and salt to the blender.
  4. Blend everything into a smooth batter, adding water as needed to achieve a pancake-like consistency.
  5. Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa over medium heat and drizzle a little oil.
  6. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet, spreading it into a circular shape.
  7. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook until the edges turn golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Flip and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes until crispy.
  9. Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  10. Serve hot with ginger chutney or any chutney of your choice.
