Ingredients

  • Ghee or oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add the yogurt and warm water gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal balls and flatten each ball with your palms.
  5. Using a rolling pin, roll out each ball into a round shape, about 6-8 inches in diameter.
  6. Preheat a tandoor or a heavy skillet on high heat.
  7. Cook each roti on the preheated surface for about 2-3 minutes on each side until it puffs up and has golden brown spots.
  8. Brush each roti with ghee or oil before serving.
