- Sweet potato - 200 grams
- Chickpea flour (besan) - 3 tablespoons
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Green chili (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato slices - 1 medium
- Cucumber slices - 1 small
Steps
- Peel and chop the sweet potato into cubes and boil them in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes).
- Drain the sweet potatoes and mash them in a bowl until smooth.
- Add chickpea flour, chopped onion, grated ginger, green chili, cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper to the mashed sweet potato. Mix well to form a dough.
- Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on the same pan for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun, topping with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber slices, then cover with the top half of the bun.
