Ingredients
- Soya chunks - 100 grams
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
- Green chilies - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh coriander leaves - a handful, chopped
- Lettuce leaves - 2
Steps
- Soak the soya chunks in hot water for about 15 minutes until they are soft, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
- In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the soaked soya chunks to the pan along with garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the mixture is well combined and cooked, remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Then, mix in the chopped coriander leaves.
- Divide the soya mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
- In the same pan, add a little more oil, and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
- To assemble the burgers, slice the whole wheat buns in half and lightly toast them if desired. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half, add the cooked patty, and top with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and any additional toppings of your choice.
- Cover with the top half of the bun and serve hot.
