- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
- Burger buns - 2
- Oil - for frying
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Lettuce - 2 leaves
- Mint chutney - for serving
Steps
- Boil the potatoes until soft, about 15 minutes. Drain and let them cool.
- In a pan, heat a teaspoon of oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onion, ginger, and garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Add the green peas, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes until the peas are tender.
- Mash the boiled potatoes and mix them with the sautéed mixture. Add lemon juice and chopped cilantro. Mix well and let it cool.
- Shape the mixture into patties and coat each patty in bread crumbs.
- In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Toast the burger buns lightly in the same pan.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the samosa patty, sliced tomato, and a generous dollop of mint chutney. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve hot with extra chutney on the side.
