Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 200 grams
  • Green peas - 100 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Oil - for frying
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Mint chutney - for serving

Steps

  1. Boil the potatoes until soft, about 15 minutes. Drain and let them cool.
  2. In a pan, heat a teaspoon of oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onion, ginger, and garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  3. Add the green peas, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes until the peas are tender.
  4. Mash the boiled potatoes and mix them with the sautéed mixture. Add lemon juice and chopped cilantro. Mix well and let it cool.
  5. Shape the mixture into patties and coat each patty in bread crumbs.
  6. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  7. Toast the burger buns lightly in the same pan.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the samosa patty, sliced tomato, and a generous dollop of mint chutney. Top with the other half of the bun.
  9. Serve hot with extra chutney on the side.
