Ingredients
- Basmati rice - 100 grams
- Milk - 500 ml
- Water - 200 ml
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Saffron strands - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Almonds (sliced) - 2 tablespoons
- Pistachios (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Raisins - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- Wash the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
- In a pot, combine the soaked rice, 200 ml of water, and a pinch of salt, then cook on medium heat until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 10 minutes.
- In a separate saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat and stir in the saffron strands, allowing them to infuse their color and flavor into the milk.
- Once the rice is cooked, add it to the saffron-infused milk along with honey, cardamom powder, almonds, pistachios, and raisins.
- Simmer the mixture on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.
- Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, and serve warm or chilled, garnished with additional nuts if desired.
