Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 100 grams
  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Saffron strands - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Almonds (sliced) - 2 tablespoons
  • Pistachios (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Raisins - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. Wash the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
  2. In a pot, combine the soaked rice, 200 ml of water, and a pinch of salt, then cook on medium heat until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 10 minutes.
  3. In a separate saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat and stir in the saffron strands, allowing them to infuse their color and flavor into the milk.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, add it to the saffron-infused milk along with honey, cardamom powder, almonds, pistachios, and raisins.
  5. Simmer the mixture on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  6. Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, and serve warm or chilled, garnished with additional nuts if desired.
